About this role
Role overview Build a unified RDF catalogue that brings record descriptions from several archival catalogues into one accessible system. The work combines data modelling, migration, validation, API development, and expert search across cloud-hosted services. This is a 16-week contract focused on practical delivery and a consolidated data foundation.
Responsibilities - Design and develop ETL processes to migrate catalogue data from multiple SQL Server databases. - Build and maintain a consolidated catalogue using RDF, established vocabularies, and Neptune as the underlying triple store. - Create API functions supporting search, selection, addition, export, editing, import, and deletion of catalogue records. - Implement expert-facing search with SPARQL and Elasticsearch. - Validate RDF datasets for structure and conformance, including the use of constraints such as SHACL.
Requirements - At least three years of relevant RDF development or closely related data engineering experience. - Practical knowledge of RDF databases and SPARQL, including experience with Neptune or a comparable graph database. - Experience working with standards-based ontologies or vocabularies such as PROV, Dublin Core, and ODRL. - Ability to design and operate ETL workflows for large, mixed-content, and semi-structured datasets. - Strong programming knowledge of Java or Scala, together with confidence working across varied data formats.
