About this role
Role overview A senior engineering manager role leading multiple squads within a Communications Identity organization responsible for number porting, number hosting, and large-scale Application-to-Person messaging compliance. The position balances external customer commitments, internal platform obligations, and operational tooling investment while driving AI-augmented engineering practices.
Responsibilities - Own the delivery roadmap across customer-facing services, internal platform APIs, and operational dashboards, partnering with principal and staff engineers to convert long-term strategy into quarterly outcomes - Drive adoption of AI coding assistants and LLM-based tools, set expectations for AI-augmented workflows, and measure impact on team velocity - Take accountability for operational excellence, including reliability, incident response, on-call health, and security posture - Engage with both external customers and internal dependent engineering teams to ensure identity workflows and APIs are seamless and developer-friendly - Lead the people strategy, including hiring, performance, growth, and career conversations for 10+ engineers - Act as the primary liaison with product management, external-facing teams, and partner engineering groups, communicating trade-offs and priorities clearly
Requirements - 15+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5 years managing teams of 10+ engineers - Deep technical background designing and operating highly available, cloud-native distributed systems, with the ability to engage credibly in architectural reviews - Strong familiarity with AWS services (Lambda, EKS, DynamoDB, Kafka), microservices patterns, and infrastructure-as-code such as Kubernetes and Terraform - Demonstrated experience championing AI tool adoption across an engineering team - Track record of shipping complex software products reliably with strong on-call and SLO discipline
Nice to have - Experience leading teams that build internal platforms or operational tooling for other engineering groups - Background scaling teams through periods of change, onboarding, and process evolution
