Director of Engineering, Platform

Role overview Senior leadership role owning engineering strategy and people leadership for a Platform Engineering organization that powers a crypto and digital asset infrastructure product. The director reports to a co-founder and CTO and oversees infrastructure, reliability and performance, releases, and internal tooling across the platform.

Responsibilities - Own the engineering strategy and technical vision spanning infrastructure, reliability, performance, releases, and internal tooling. - Build, manage, and grow a high-performing engineering organization, including hiring and developing managers and senior individual contributors. - Partner with product engineering and company leadership so platform investments align with customer and business needs. - Define and evolve org structure, leveling, career paths, and engineering rituals such as on-call, incident review, and capacity planning. - Provide architectural oversight across cloud and network infrastructure, security architecture, and operational tooling. - Drive processes for security reviews, capacity planning, testing, and incident response to ensure quality and consistency.

Requirements - Proven experience managing engineering managers across a multi-team organization rather than a single team. - Deep understanding of distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and security architecture, with the ability to lead deep technical discussions and make tradeoff calls. - Track record operating and scaling infrastructure that demands high availability, strong performance, and a robust security posture. - A high bar for software quality and engineering process, even while moving quickly. - Comfort reasoning about adversarial threat models.

Nice to have - Prior experience in fast-paced crypto, web3, or FinTech companies, especially with security-critical infrastructure. - Experience scaling an infrastructure organization through a significant growth stage such as Series B to C. - Active engagement with the crypto ecosystem and an opinionated view of its direction.
