About this role

Role overview A contract MuleSoft integration engineer role supporting a software development consultancy that builds government technology services. The position is embedded with a client team and focuses on designing and implementing automated testing strategies for MuleSoft integrations within Salesforce-adjacent ecosystems. The engagement runs through April 2027 with potential extension, at 35 hours per week.

Responsibilities - Design and implement a comprehensive automated testing strategy for MuleSoft integrations - Build and maintain automated integration, API, regression, and end-to-end test suites - Identify gaps in existing test coverage and drive improvements in overall integration quality - Troubleshoot integration defects and perform root-cause analysis across Salesforce, MuleSoft, and downstream systems - Partner with Salesforce developers, MuleSoft developers, QA engineers, and product teams to ensure reliable deployments - Improve CI/CD pipelines to incorporate automated integration testing - Establish testing standards, best practices, and quality metrics such as test coverage percentage, integration defect rate, and MTTR - Document testing patterns and coverage so the broader team can maintain and extend the suite going forward

Requirements - 5+ years of experience developing MuleSoft integrations - Experience managing test data and environments for integration testing, including Salesforce sandbox environments and simulating external dependencies that are unavailable or unsafe to call in test - Hands-on experience building automated API and integration tests using frameworks such as MUnit, Postman/Newman, REST Assured, Karate, or similar - Strong understanding of REST APIs, asynchronous messaging, OAuth authentication, and error handling - Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes - Ability to analyze complex cross-system issues and improve overall platform reliability
