Role overview This full stack engineering position sits on a small, experienced product team building financial technology that helps members reach important money milestones. The work blends user-facing interface development with backend services for banking and investment systems, balancing rapid iteration with the responsibility of handling other people's money. The team operates within a broader Financial Products & Partnerships group focused on long-term financial prosperity.
Responsibilities - Shape technical direction for banking and investment systems, weighing business needs against engineering tradeoffs - Build front-end experiences with React (including React Native) and develop back-end services in Node and GraphQL - Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to translate nuanced business requirements and clearly explain technical complexity as needs evolve - Design scalable architectures that may diverge from initial requests in service of long-term sustainability - Own the full lifecycle of features, from planning and development through production maintenance and ongoing optimization - Investigate and resolve issues related to third-party vendor integrations and performance
Requirements - 3+ years of professional experience with some combination of Node, JavaScript, React/React Native, GraphQL, and Postgres or a comparable relational database (TypeScript is a plus) - Genuine interest in the why behind the work, with awareness of how shipped software affects end users - Comfort with observability practices and a habit of digging into details to resolve performance and user experience problems - Familiarity with the challenges of vendor integrations and the persistence to troubleshoot them - A collaborative mindset that balances learning from peers with teaching and mentoring others - Comfort working in a growing organization and the initiative to lead on difficult problems
Nice to have - TypeScript experience for typed Node/React codebases - Background in financial products, banking platforms, or money-movement systems - Experience architecting systems that manage sensitive financial data responsibly
