Remote job
Senior Software Engineer, AI Automation (Brazil)
Job details
About this role
Role overview
A senior engineering role embedded with an intelligence operations team, focused on building AI-powered internal products that meaningfully accelerate how analysts collect and act on information. The position sits at the intersection of analyst workflows, back-end systems, and applied AI, with a strong emphasis on product judgment over one-off automations.
Responsibilities
- Partner directly with intelligence analysts to understand goals, constraints, and day-to-day workflows, and translate those into technical solutions with clear success criteria. - Identify the highest-leverage opportunities to improve intelligence collection, applying a product lens rather than just an engineering one, and productize solutions so they are durable and widely adopted. - Design, build, and own AI-powered internal applications end-to-end, including back-end services, APIs, data storage, supporting infrastructure, and user-facing interfaces. - Develop custom agentic workflows leveraging modern AI models to augment and scale intelligence work. - Own projects from technical design and architecture through scoping, delivery, iteration, and ongoing support. - Continuously evaluate impact and iterate based on real outcomes for the intelligence team.
Requirements
- 6+ years of full-stack software engineering experience building scalable web applications, services, and APIs. - Strong product sense, with the ability to spot the highest-impact, most scalable solution and ship it as something people actually keep using. - Proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript, with strong back-end and systems engineering skills. - Experience with back-end systems, datastores such as Postgres, pgvector, Pinecone, or Redis, and designing APIs. - Hands-on experience with modern AI tools and models, including building AI-enabled workflows or prototypes. - Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with semi-technical stakeholders, including explaining technical trade-offs clearly. - Comfort operating independently in ambiguous problem spaces with a high degree of ownership.
Nice to have
- Background as either a back-end/systems-leaning engineer or a data/ML-leaning engineer; both profiles are welcomed. - Familiarity with running projects on a weekly sprint cadence and acting as a technical anchor. - Open to candidates based in Brazil, with overlap hours during U.S. Pacific time business hours.
