Sr. Architect | Data & Analytics/Databricks/Snowflakes (Remote)

Role overview

Senior data architect role focused on designing, modernizing, governing, and operationalizing data platforms for analytics, AI, reporting, and decision‑making. The position is client‑facing, combining hands‑on architecture, technical leadership, consulting, and delivery oversight, with the ability to move between executive conversations, detailed technical design, and delivery oversight. The architect establishes standards, guides engineering teams, evaluates platform trade‑offs, and ensures solutions are secure, scalable, maintainable, and aligned to business outcomes.

Responsibilities - Lead design of modern data architectures across cloud, hybrid, and on‑premises environments, translating business and AI needs into implementation roadmaps. - Define patterns for ingestion, transformation, orchestration, storage, modeling, serving, governance, security, and observability; establish clear layer separation (raw, refined, curated, consumption). - Design lakehouse, warehouse, data mesh, and data product architectures; evaluate platform trade‑offs using decision criteria, risks, and consequences. - Produce architecture diagrams, reference architectures, technical designs, and implementation plans; lead architecture workshops and design reviews. - Mentor engineering teams, establish repeatable engineering standards, and contribute to practice growth through proposals and client conversations.

Requirements - 8+ years in data architecture, engineering, analytics engineering, or technical consulting. - Hands‑on production experience with at least two of: Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric. - Proven experience designing large‑scale cloud data platforms; strong knowledge of data modeling, lakehouse/warehouse patterns, governance, and analytics architecture. - Proficiency with SQL and Python; ability to review and guide production‑quality code. - Experience with pipeline orchestration, CI/CD, source control, automated testing, environment promotion. - Ability to lead architecture workshops, explain technical decisions to varied audiences, and mentor teams; willingness to travel periodically.

Nice to have - Experience with all three target platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric) and major cloud data services (Azure, AWS, GCP). - Familiarity with Power BI, dbt, Kafka, Event Hubs, Airflow, and related ecosystem tools. - Experience with data mesh implementations and data product thinking.
