Senior Software Engineer, Business Map

Role overview

Build backend foundations that represent how multi-location businesses are structured, including their locations, ownership, and organizational groupings. As a senior engineer on a small team, you’ll take features from design through production and help other teams adopt shared services and data models.

Responsibilities

- Design and ship backend features, including location management, organization APIs, and supporting internal tools. - Own feature delivery end to end, covering implementation, testing, monitoring, and staged production rollout. - Partner with engineers across teams as they adopt location and organization data. - Participate in on-call support, investigate production issues, and address their underlying causes. - Write technical designs, review peers’ code, and support newer engineers through pairing and feedback.

Requirements

- At least five years building backend services in Java, Kotlin, or another object-oriented language. - Proficiency with relational databases and SQL. - Experience operating production systems, including debugging live issues and taking part in on-call rotations. - Familiarity with distributed systems, event-driven messaging, or microservices. - Ability to take ambiguous projects from design to production and communicate clearly with engineering and product partners. - Experience or strong interest in using coding agents and AI-assisted development in daily work.

Nice to have

- Experience changing large, long-lived systems while they serve production traffic. - Familiarity with multi-tenant data, account hierarchies, or multi-location platforms. - Knowledge of gRPC, GraphQL, event streaming, or React and TypeScript for internal tools. - Understanding of restaurant or multi-location business operations.
