Senior Mobile Product Designer

Role overview

A consumer social platform that brings strangers together for real-world gatherings is hiring its most senior individual-contributor designer to own product design across mobile, web, and back-office surfaces. The role partners directly with product leadership and operates without a design manager, setting the craft standard for the entire product. Responsibilities

- Drive end-to-end design for a mobile-first consumer product, along with supporting web and internal tooling, translating product strategy and user insights into considered UX. - Lead discovery through delivery — from concept sketches and prototypes to polished interaction and visual design — iterating quickly based on feedback and learning. - Collaborate closely with product managers and engineers to frame problems, weigh trade-offs, and ship solutions that balance user, business, and technical needs. - Maintain and evolve a scalable design system, applying systems thinking so the work stays consistent as the product grows. - Use AI-assisted design tools to accelerate exploration and synthesis, while applying human judgment to final decisions. - Communicate design rationale through clear storytelling and data, building alignment across teams without a dedicated design manager above the role.

Requirements

- 5+ years designing mobile consumer products, with a portfolio showing full ownership of mobile-first experiences from problem definition to launch. - Strong interaction and visual design craft, with judgment about when to polish and when to ship. - Proficiency in Figma and contemporary prototyping tools, comfortable working across levels of fidelity from rough concepts to production-ready specs. - Track record partnering effectively with product managers and engineers toward shared outcomes. - Experience using AI tools within design workflows, with curiosity about responsible applications. - Background in social, dating, community, or marketplace consumer products, and clear, empathetic communication.
