About this role
Role overview Join a small platform engineering group focused on operating and improving established production infrastructure. The work begins with cloud cost optimization and expands into reliability indicators, alerting, and disaster recovery, with mentorship and opportunities to grow from executing defined tasks to independently shaping projects.
Responsibilities - Complete remaining cloud cost optimization work and help teams use cloud services economically. - Monitor service level indicator and objective alerts, investigate anomalies, and refine alert thresholds and time windows. - Operate and maintain Kubernetes infrastructure, including Amazon EKS environments. - Contribute to infrastructure as code changes using Terraform or similar tools. - Help plan and implement disaster recovery as that work enters the roadmap. - Partner with product engineers on cost-conscious use of managed AI services and cloud marketplaces. - Progress toward defining and scoping work, while collaborating with and learning from experienced engineers.
Requirements - Practical, day-to-day experience operating Kubernetes; EKS experience is preferred. - Working knowledge of AWS, including identity and access management setup. - Experience with Terraform or another infrastructure as code tool. - Background operating production systems. - Familiarity with SRE concepts such as error budgets and service level indicators/objectives, or readiness to develop that knowledge. - Ability to learn tools independently, persist through problems, and collaborate in a mentoring environment.
Nice to have - AWS certification, Python familiarity, or exposure to FinOps and cloud cost management.
Benefits and work setup - Salary range: $145,000–$170,000 per year, with equity, health coverage, and a 401(k) plan. - Flexible paid time off, nine observed holidays, wellness and fitness support, and access to coaching or therapy sessions. - US-based employees are required; the role includes two annual trips to the Los Angeles headquarters for company summits. An office is available for in-person work.
