Role overview This customer-facing role supports members, pharmacies, and providers with questions about pharmacy benefits, helping people navigate coverage, claims, and medication access. The position is part of a healthcare cost-containment organization and centers on delivering clear, empathetic service across phone, chat, and email channels. It suits someone who enjoys problem-solving in a fast-paced, member-focused environment.
Responsibilities - Respond to inbound inquiries about pharmacy benefits, formulary coverage, copays, prior authorizations, and medication access via phone, chat, and email. - Help pharmacies resolve claim processing questions and assist providers with prior authorization and drug coverage information. - Review claims that need action, initiate outbound outreach, and work cross-functionally with clinical, operations, and account management teams to resolve complex issues. - Document every interaction in the ticketing system, follow HIPAA and internal privacy protocols, and escalate sensitive cases through proper channels. - Participate in call quality reviews, apply coaching feedback, and contribute to continuous improvement of the member experience.
Requirements - High school diploma or equivalent. - Previous experience in pharmacy benefit management, pharmacy technician work, healthcare, insurance, customer service, or a call center environment is highly valued. - Strong verbal and written communication skills with active listening and critical thinking abilities. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems and PBM tools quickly. - Ability to multitask, stay organized, and work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced setting.
Nice to have - Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a member-first mindset when handling difficult or sensitive interactions. - Familiarity with post-call surveys, outbound outreach campaigns, or quality assurance processes.
