Role overview
A digital publishing organization focused on independent product recommendation journalism is hiring a Senior Manager of Audience & Product Analytics to lead the analytics function that fuels growth and engagement. The role combines people leadership with hands-on analytical work, partnering closely with product, design, engineering, and editorial leaders to shape strategy, define goals, and surface new opportunities. The position reports to the Executive Director of Data Analytics and Insights and is open to remote or in-office work for U.S.-based candidates.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of three direct reports, fostering a culture of curiosity, setting clear deliverables, supporting career growth, and ensuring consistently high-quality analytical output - Analyze audience growth, traffic drivers, customer journey touchpoints, and user engagement trends to inform strategic decision-making - Partner with functional leads across product, design, engineering, and editorial to set strategy, define goals, and build the audience and product analytics roadmap - Lead the design, execution, and post-analysis of A/B tests, providing expertise on primary metrics, trade-offs between competing goals, and recommendations to evolve the product - Translate complex behavioral data into compelling narratives and clear, actionable recommendations for diverse stakeholders - Demonstrate and reinforce a commitment to editorial independence and the organization's broader journalistic mission
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in data analytics, with direct experience working alongside product or publishing teams - 2+ years of dedicated people leadership experience managing analysts - 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and running A/B experiments - 1+ years of experience reporting on audience engagement, traffic trends, or customer journey modeling at a digital publisher or media organization - Advanced SQL skills and practical experience with BI or data visualization tools such as Tableau or Looker
Nice to have
- Proficiency in Python or R for statistical analysis - Familiarity with the digital media industry or affiliate marketing economics - Quantitative degree in Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field
