Senior Full Stack Engineer - AI

Role overview Join an early-stage team building digital infrastructure for grant funding, helping organizations spend less time on forms and administration and more time on impact. As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you will work end-to-end across the backend, frontend, infrastructure, and AI pipeline, owning technical decisions, architecture, and product direction as one of the first engineering hires.

Responsibilities - Build and ship end-to-end product features independently, working across frontend, backend, infrastructure, and AI pipeline - Develop interfaces with a usability-first mindset for grant writers - Take ownership of problems from initial discovery through production deployment - Advance AI capabilities through prompt engineering, context management, cost control, and multi-provider setups - Operate, monitor, and debug the live production environment using Sentry, CloudWatch, and Postgres performance monitoring - Shape technical architecture, code quality, engineering standards, and the technical roadmap

Requirements - Several years of professional experience with TypeScript and Node.js - Strong depth in Postgres, including JSONB, query performance, and migrations - Full-stack experience with Next.js 15 / React Query, Express / BullMQ, AWS (ECS, RDS), and Terraform - Hands-on experience building and operating AI pipelines in production beyond simple API integration - Experience with LLMs and AI-powered applications, including prompt engineering, context management, model selection, and AI evaluation - Strong debugging skills in live production systems, high autonomy, and an AI-native development approach (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar)

Nice to have - German language skills at B1 level or above (customers and product are German-speaking; team works bilingually) - Experience with AI agents and tool-calling workflows in production
