Role overview

Develop and maintain a peer-to-peer software stack and help expand a large ecosystem of modular JavaScript packages. The work centers on production Node.js applications, reusable modules, and distributed networking systems, with collaboration across a globally distributed remote team.

Responsibilities

- Build and maintain production software using Node.js, keeping the code modular and maintainable. - Develop, manage, and support reusable npm modules within a broad package ecosystem. - Test and debug software, diagnosing issues across interconnected components. - Contribute to the development and ongoing improvement of peer-to-peer and distributed systems. - Communicate progress and technical considerations clearly while working remotely with teammates across locations.

Requirements

- Proven experience building and operating production-scale applications with Node.js. - Strong ability to write modular, maintainable code. - Experience creating and managing reusable npm packages. - Solid testing and debugging skills. - Interest or experience in peer-to-peer technologies or distributed systems. - Effective communication and comfort collaborating in a remote, globally distributed team.

Nice to have

- Experience writing native Node.js extensions in C or C++, or connecting JavaScript to lower-level code. - Background optimizing network systems or protocols for latency and throughput. - Familiarity with advanced networking concepts. - Contributions to open source, particularly in peer-to-peer or decentralized technology.
