Mobile Engineer - React Native (100% Remote)

Role overview

Build and maintain a peer-to-peer mobile app for chat and calling across iOS and Android. The interface is built with React Native and Expo, while an on-device JavaScript runtime supports the peer-to-peer core; the engineer will take features from user experience implementation through integration with that core.

Responsibilities - Develop and refine features for messaging, voice and video calls, media sharing, device pairing, and identity backup. - Connect mobile experiences to peer-to-peer core APIs. - Integrate platform capabilities such as notifications, camera access, biometrics, and background processing on iOS and Android. - Profile and improve performance on real devices, including launch time, long conversations, media handling, battery use, and network use. - Write unit and end-to-end tests and contribute to reliable releases through continuous integration and crash reporting. - Coordinate with product, design, and core technology colleagues, and review code for quality.

Requirements - Significant React Native experience, including Redux for state management and Redux-Saga. - Strong JavaScript and ES6+ skills. - Experience working with WebSockets and REST APIs. - Ability to work effectively with a remote team. - Interest in modernizing and optimizing mobile or web applications.

Nice to have - Knowledge of Swift or Kotlin and familiarity with Xcode or Android Studio. - Experience building with peer-to-peer frameworks.
