Infrastructure Engineer, Edge Compute
Job details
About this role
Role overview Build and operate infrastructure that runs customer workloads across cloud providers and edge locations. The work spans Kubernetes operations, automation, reliability, observability, and security, including safe environments for workloads that may execute untrusted code.
Responsibilities - Deploy and maintain Kubernetes clusters across cloud providers and edge sites, handling provisioning, configuration, upgrades, and recovery. - Automate infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools. - Build and operate isolated runtime environments for customer workloads, including containers, microVMs, and temporary sandboxes. - Improve cluster reliability, capacity, metrics, and alerting as the platform expands across regions and providers. - Strengthen workload and network isolation, and help establish security boundaries for untrusted code. - Join on-call rotations and diagnose incidents across Linux, Kubernetes, containers, networking, and cloud infrastructure.
Requirements - 3–5 years of hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting Kubernetes in production, including at the cluster level. - Strong Linux and container fundamentals. - Experience with infrastructure automation and tools such as Terraform or OpenTofu and Ansible. - Experience with at least one major cloud provider and its compute, storage, and networking services. - Ability to investigate production issues across multiple layers of an infrastructure stack. - A security-minded approach to attack surfaces, tenant isolation, and running untrusted workloads.
Nice to have - Experience with multi-cloud or multi-region Kubernetes, Kubernetes networking, or CNI implementations such as Calico. - Familiarity with microVMs or isolation technologies such as Firecracker and Kata Containers; containerd, cgroups, namespaces, or seccomp. - Experience with serverless infrastructure, ephemeral compute, sandboxing, CI runners, build systems, or platforms that execute user-provided code. - Knowledge of BGP, WireGuard, or software-defined networking; experience with Rancher/RKE2 or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. - Go or Python skills for infrastructure tooling and automation.
