Role overview
This senior backend engineering role focuses on the services that support real-time communications and a Voice SDK platform. You will design, operate, and evolve distributed production systems used by mobile and JavaScript applications, with responsibility spanning architecture, implementation, deployment, monitoring, scaling, and production support. Responsibilities
- Build and maintain backend services for authentication, token management, push notifications, proxying, RTC DNS, and diagnostic logging. - Own services through their full lifecycle, from technical design and implementation to deployment and ongoing operational support. - Improve system reliability, scalability, observability, and long-term architecture as usage and service complexity grow. - Work closely with mobile and JavaScript SDK engineers to ensure backend systems meet application and real-time communication needs. - Investigate and resolve reliability issues across applications, networks, infrastructure, and distributed services. - Monitor production systems, support incidents, and help ensure dependable service operation.
Requirements
- Senior-level experience developing and operating backend services in production environments. - Strong interest in distributed systems, service reliability, scalability, and observability. - Ability to take ownership of backend systems from design through deployment and operational support. - Experience reasoning about how applications, networks, and infrastructure interact in real-world systems. - Comfortable collaborating with engineers working on mobile and JavaScript SDKs. - Practical approach to diagnosing production problems and improving system architecture over time.
