Role overview A senior individual-contributor role for a software engineer who owns major subsystems from design through long-term support. The position emphasizes technical leadership with minimal oversight, deep subject-matter expertise, and cross-functional influence to improve engineering quality and operational processes. Responsibilities - Take end-to-end ownership of one or more software subsystems, including development, ongoing support, and lifecycle improvements. - Serve as a subject-matter expert in at least two areas of the codebase, proposing creative and innovative solutions. - Act as a sounding board for technical discussions and lead engineering debates across the team. - Triage and resolve challenging defects, including debugging code written by other engineers. - Improve quality and operational processes, using data to inform technical decisions. - Accurately estimate scope on larger software projects and look beyond the immediate task to anticipate downstream impact.
Requirements - Two or more years of professional software development experience. - Hands-on experience building scalable microservice-based web applications with modern Java and the Spring framework. - Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, TypeScript, and a modern front-end framework such as React or Angular. - Working knowledge of computer architecture and design, data access patterns, scalability, resiliency patterns, and object-oriented software techniques. - Demonstrated ability to lead technical work independently with minimal supervision and credible standing with the team. - Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
Nice to have - Prior domain experience in healthcare settings (not required).
