Senior Software Engineer

Role overview A senior full-stack engineering position focused on designing and evolving backend services for a healthcare platform, with the flexibility to contribute to frontend codebases when needed. The role centers on building secure, performant REST APIs and microservices that power core platform capabilities, while driving reliability, observability, and technical excellence across the stack.

Responsibilities - Own and evolve platform APIs and downstream services, ensuring low-latency, resilient endpoints for client applications. - Design and implement Spring Boot microservices using modern patterns such as contract-first APIs, layered architecture, DTO mapping, and caching. - Integrate with internal platform services (appointments, patients, messaging, authentication) via service/domain contracts and RESTful clients. - Improve reliability and performance through caching strategies, efficient data access, connection management, and resilience patterns. - Implement observability with structured logging, metrics, and tracing, and automate build and deploy pipelines. - Write robust tests across unit, component, contract, and integration layers, and contribute to frontend testing where applicable. - Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and document architectural patterns to drive consistency. - Contribute to frontend interface development using HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript frameworks when business needs require.

Requirements - 5+ years of professional software development experience building production Java services. - Deep expertise with Spring Boot and REST API design, including contract-first development and layered service architectures. - Ability to adapt and contribute to modern frontend frameworks such as Angular or React. - Experience building and consuming service/domain contracts and integrating external or partner APIs. - Proficiency in data modeling and access patterns, with the ability to optimize queries, caching, and serialization for high-performance applications. - Hands-on experience with mapper and code generation tools (e.g., MapStruct, Lombok), Maven dependency management, and build-quality plugins. - Proficiency in automated testing across unit, integration, component, contract, and performance layers. - Solid understanding of messaging and async patterns (e.g., ActiveMQ or Kafka), feature flags, and configuration management. - Strong focus on observability, performance profiling, and resilience patterns including timeouts, retries, circuit breakers, and idempotency. - Practical experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, debugging, and boilerplate generation. - Working knowledge of GenAI/LLM integration in backend systems. - Competence in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript or TypeScript. - Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain design tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical partners.
