Senior Software Engineer, Applied AI

Responsibilities - Partner with Product Management and stakeholders to evaluate and prioritize AI opportunities, contributing technical judgment on feasibility, risk, and whether AI is the right approach. - Lead the design, prototyping, implementation, deployment, and operation of secure, reliable, and scalable AI-enabled products and internal tools. - Translate responsible AI principles into system requirements and engineering practices, including evaluation, data protection, risk mitigation, monitoring, and human oversight. - Build reusable architectures, implementation patterns, tools, and documentation that make AI-enabled systems sustainable to maintain. - Guide model, platform, and vendor choices by weighing customer and staff value against quality, cost, risk, performance, maintainability, and governance. - Define success measures and use production data, evaluations, and stakeholder feedback to improve AI-enabled systems over time. - Mentor peers and share practical patterns for responsible AI-assisted software development.

Requirements - At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience. - Demonstrated senior-level expertise designing, building, testing, deploying, and operating secure, reliable production systems, with sound judgment on privacy, scalability, data flow, observability, and cost. - Hands-on experience taking applied AI capabilities from experimentation into production, including model integration, prompt and context design, evaluation, monitoring, safeguards, and broader platform integration. - Deep proficiency in at least one modern programming language, with the ability to learn and work across languages, codebases, and stacks. - Experience building and maintaining production web applications using modern frontend and server-side frameworks and libraries. - Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools effectively and responsibly.

Nice to have - Experience with React, TanStack Start, Ruby on Rails, or Spring MVC. - Work in both dynamically and statically typed languages. - Evaluating or integrating multiple commercial or open-source AI models, platforms, or providers. - Establishing reusable engineering patterns, evaluation practices, or observability for AI-enabled systems. - Sharing AI-assisted development practices or helping peers adopt new engineering tools and workflows.
