Senior Software Engineer (Agentic Search) – Web Rendering Engineer

Role overview

A senior engineering role focused on building the rendering infrastructure behind a search system designed for AI agents. The work centers on transforming modern, JavaScript-heavy web applications into clean, structured content at internet scale. It is a deeply technical position combining browser internals, frontend framework knowledge, and large-scale distributed systems engineering.

Responsibilities

- Design and build rendering systems capable of handling modern, dynamic web applications at scale - Develop browser-based infrastructure that reliably executes complex client-side JavaScript - Investigate how contemporary frontend frameworks render and deliver content, including SSR, CSR, and streaming approaches - Improve rendering quality, completeness, and performance across a wide variety of websites - Optimize rendering cost, latency, resource usage, and throughput for billions of pages - Translate rendering research findings into reliable production systems

Requirements

- 5+ years of experience as a software engineer on production backend or infrastructure systems - Deep expertise with the Chromium rendering pipeline, including DOM, Layout, Paint, and Compositing - Strong understanding of JavaScript execution inside browsers, rendering lifecycles, and page readiness - Hands-on experience with headless browser tooling such as Playwright, Puppeteer, or Selenium, and the Chrome DevTools Protocol - Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks (React, Vue, Angular, Svelte) and their rendering architectures - Knowledge of single-page applications, progressive web apps, resource loading, lazy loading, and modern JavaScript bundling

- Experience building and operating high-throughput content processing pipelines at internet scale - Background in distributed systems design and performance optimization - Open-source contributions or active involvement in the engineering community - Conference talks or technical publications
