Senior Backend Software Engineer

Role overview Build and evolve backend foundations for an email product that needs responsive, reliable behaviour across connected and offline use. The role focuses on synchronisation, data consistency, service operations and product capabilities, while collaborating as an individual contributor on a software team.

Responsibilities - Develop product features such as spam detection, filtering and a desktop application. - Extend authentication, shared workspace and settings capabilities. - Improve system architecture to increase application speed and responsiveness. - Build or maintain synchronization and persistence mechanisms that keep client and server data consistent. - Establish service observability, monitoring and alerting to help the team respond to operational incidents.

Requirements - Strong fundamentals in React, TypeScript and Node.js. - Experience building sync engines, CRUD systems, transaction queues, consistency layers, in-memory data stores or offline persistence. - Understanding of data consistency and offline-first application design. - Experience with real-time products such as productivity tools, messaging platforms or similar applications is relevant. - Strong written and spoken English, with availability to work remotely aligned to Taiwan Standard Time (GMT+8).

Nice to have Experience with end-to-end encryption or securing infrastructure at scale, and familiarity with LLMs or language model APIs.

Benefits and work setup The role is remote and async-first, with stated compensation of $50,000–$80,000 USD. The position is framed as an individual contributor role on a software team.
