Director of Engineering – Manage (Identity, Fraud & CS)

Role overview

This senior engineering leadership role drives the technical vision and strategy for an Identity, Fraud & Customer Service engineering organization within a global gaming and sports betting technology company. The position leads multiple cross-functional engineering teams spanning frontend, backend, full-stack, data science, and data engineering disciplines. The director partners with product, commercial, design, and marketing leaders to deliver scalable, high-impact solutions serving millions of users across European and Latin American markets.

Responsibilities

- Define and execute the technical strategy and roadmap for the Identity, Fraud & Customer Service engineering organization and broader engineering leadership - Build new engineering teams while scaling existing ones to support business growth and a culture of experimentation - Champion an outcome-driven engineering culture across multiple sub-teams and disciplines - Manage and develop engineering managers and senior engineers through hiring, coaching, performance reviews, and continuous feedback - Partner cross-functionally with product, design, marketing, and commercial stakeholders to influence strategic decisions - Ensure engineering excellence, reliability, and stability of services throughout the software development lifecycle

Requirements

- 15+ years of experience in software engineering or related technical roles - 8+ years leading and managing engineering teams, including direct experience managing other managers - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field, or 11+ years of equivalent professional experience - Strong ability to evaluate complex, ambiguous technical trade-offs and translate them into clear direction - Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle, distributed systems, and service reliability at scale - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of resolving cross-team engineering issues

Nice to have

- Background in online casino, sports betting, or digital gaming products - Hands-on familiarity with Kubernetes, AWS, Kafka, or comparable technologies for building highly reliable platforms - Experience supporting globally distributed engineering organizations across multiple time zones
