About this role
Role overview
Lead the engineering team responsible for monetization and revenue systems, including plans, subscriptions, usage-based charges, invoices, payments, credits, taxation, collections, entitlements, and partner billing. This is a people, delivery, and technical leadership role focused on building systems that are accurate, observable, resilient, supportable, and trusted by customers and internal finance teams.
Responsibilities
- Build a healthy, high-trust team in a remote-first, globally distributed environment through coaching, regular 1:1s, performance management, career development, and onboarding. - Own the team hiring plan, participate in interviews, partner with talent teams, and contribute to headcount and organizational planning. - Set and manage the billing roadmap, milestones, intake, prioritization, stakeholder updates, risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs. - Balance new pricing and product capabilities with investments in correctness, resilience, supportability, and technical debt reduction. - Participate in architecture and design discussions, applying sound technical judgment without being expected to contribute production code routinely. - Train for and lead incident response, including coordination, customer-impact assessment, resolution, and blameless follow-up reviews.
Requirements
- At least five years of engineering experience with sufficient technical depth to work credibly with engineers building complex systems. - At least three years managing remote engineering teams, ideally distributed across multiple time zones. - Experience leading billing engineering in a cloud, SaaS, developer-tools, or similarly technical environment, or a demonstrated ability to ramp quickly in a complex domain. - Genuine commitment to people management, feedback, psychological safety, and helping individuals and teams perform at their best. - Experience with some combination of billing ledgers, invoices, payments, refunds, credits, taxes, chargebacks, usage metering, quotas, pricing, reconciliation, or provider integrations. - Ability to work effectively with Finance, Data, Product, Support, Sales or revenue operations, and Partnerships.
Benefits and work setup
- Fully remote, globally distributed work with asynchronous scheduling and a coworking membership or allowance. - Equity ownership, a technology and home-office allowance, health coverage for employees and partial dependent coverage, paid professional development, and an annual company off-site.
