About this role

Role overview

This is the first content designer role on a small, fast-moving product team building an AI-powered application builder where language carries the user experience from request to result. The position splits into two equal halves: establishing content as a disciplined practice inside the product, and personally shipping content-led features from problem definition through to launch. It suits someone who wants leverage through systems rather than volume of output, and who enjoys ambiguous, high-ownership work.

Responsibilities

- Define the product's voice, vocabulary, and reusable patterns for repeated surfaces such as prompts, errors, empty states, permissions, billing flows, and settings, then embed those standards into the design system, components, and internal tooling. - Review writing produced across the company and coach contributors so their judgment improves, not just the sentence in front of them. - Own the overall content strategy with a clear point of view on what to say, when, and how much, shaping direction at the problem-definition stage rather than copy-editing at the end. - Scope, design, and ship content-led features end-to-end as the directly responsible individual, working in Figma or with agentic tools without a dedicated product design partner. - Partner with marketing and customer experience teams so messaging before, inside, and after the product reinforces a single, coherent story.

Requirements

- A portfolio of product content work with at least two examples showing the problem, your reasoning, alternatives you rejected, and what changed after launch, ideally in complex products at real scale. - Demonstrated ability to take a content-led feature from problem statement to shipped product on your own, designing in Figma or building with agentic tools to a standard the team would actually ship. - Experience building a standard, system, or set of guidelines that other people actually adopted, ideally including one you watched fail and can explain why. - Track record of giving feedback that lands, including to people outside design who did not ask for it, and to peer writers as a peer rather than a manager. - Strong written and verbal English communication skills for frequent collaboration with team members, stakeholders, and customers.

Nice to have

- Startup or small-team background where you wore multiple hats rather than operating as one of many. - Experience shaping AI tools or writing for products whose interface is a conversation. - Background writing across product, marketing, and support, or migrating knowledge between those surfaces. - Consumer product experience.

Benefits and work setup

- Fully remote, globally distributed team with deep collaboration across time zones. - No college degree required to apply. - Candidates located outside the United States are welcome.
