Engineering Manager - Front-End (UI/UX)

Role overview This is a hands-on engineering leadership role that pairs significant individual contribution with people management for the front-end domain of an AI-powered, browser-based development platform. The manager will own UI architecture and code quality while developing engineers, coordinating across teams, and championing AI-native development practices.

Responsibilities - Own frontend architecture, including component patterns, state management, performance, and core infrastructure. - Write code regularly on complex features, migrations, and architectural improvements, and review UI pull requests to maintain quality standards. - Drive technical initiatives, manage technical debt strategically, and coordinate with other team leads on cross-domain architectural decisions. - Lead performance reviews, career development, regular one-on-ones, hiring decisions, and performance management for the UI team. - Assign team members to features based on skills, capacity, and priorities, and run weekly UI team meetings for knowledge sharing. - Champion AI coding tools, build AI-powered UI features and agent interaction patterns, and use the internal product daily to drive improvements.

Requirements - 10+ years of professional frontend development experience, including 3+ years in engineering leadership roles. - Deep expertise in React, TypeScript, HTML, CSS (Tailwind), performance optimization, design systems, state management, and complex UI flows. - Demonstrated track record of architectural decisions that balance speed and maintainability. - Daily user of AI coding assistants such as Cursor, Copilot, or Claude, with experience building AI-integrated applications and interfaces. - Strong UX sensibilities with attention to spacing, typography, and animations, and experience translating designs from Figma or Sketch into pixel-perfect interfaces. - Pragmatic, action-oriented mindset with the ability to tie technical work to clear business outcomes.

Nice to have - Experience with Web Workers, Web Components, Remix, browser-based development environments, or developer/design tooling. - Design engineering background or open-source contributions to UI libraries. - Familiarity with WebAssembly or advanced browser APIs.
