Full Stack Engineer

Role overview A national security technology company focused on space communications is hiring a Full Stack Software Engineer to build next-generation mission planning and command and control software. The work supports U.S. Government programs and emphasizes modern, scalable, open-source-based products. The role spans intuitive front-end interfaces through backend services, APIs, databases, and system integrations for space vehicle mission planning.

Responsibilities - Build responsive, maintainable user interfaces with JavaScript, TypeScript, and modern frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue. - Translate design mockups, user feedback, and system requirements into functional, intuitive experiences. - Develop clean, well-tested code following established engineering practices and standards. - Own small-to-medium features from development through testing and deployment, surfacing edge cases, risks, and dependencies. - Build and improve APIs and backend services using Python, SQL, RESTful APIs, and containerized architectures. - Write automated unit, integration, and functional tests, participate in code reviews, and collaborate with QA throughout the software development lifecycle.

Requirements - Two to five years of professional web or software development experience using modern approaches. - Strong front-end fundamentals, including component-based architecture, responsive design, performance, and usability. - Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue. - Full-stack experience with backend systems including Python, API development and integration, and service-to-service communication. - Experience with relational databases and SQL, including querying and integrating data into web applications. - Familiarity with containerized and microservices architectures using Docker and Kubernetes. - Experience writing automated tests and developing software against defined user, functional, and technical requirements. - Understanding of engineering best practices including code reviews, version control, automated testing, security, performance, and maintainability. - Ability to independently own well-defined features, prioritize work, and communicate risks or dependencies clearly. - U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance; experience developing or deploying software in air-gapped or highly secure government network environments.

Nice to have - Experience designing interfaces with real-time, 2D or 3D geospatial visualizations. - Background building software for mission-critical, defense, aerospace, or other highly secure environments. - Active U.S. Government Secret clearance.
