Senior NIRIS Level 3 Support & Interoperability Engineer

Role overview A senior specialist engineering role focused on Level 3 technical support, deployment, and interoperability testing for a real-time information services platform used across defence and national sites. The position blends deep hands-on engineering with test-direction duties across multi-site, multi-platform environments. It is a contract role supporting critical operational communications infrastructure with scheduled on-site missions.

Responsibilities - Deliver Level 3 technical support, including complex incident diagnosis, problem management, and root-cause analysis - Install, configure, upgrade, and verify platform deployments across multiple operational sites - Plan, coordinate, execute, and report on interoperability test events, acting as Test Director for assigned test areas - Analyse interoperability issues involving platform standards and external interfaces - Provide on-site installation, site enablement, training, and workshops for end users and technical staff - Prepare and validate new software releases prior to deployment and maintain deployment, support, and test documentation

Requirements - At least 15 years of professional experience supporting, deploying, or operating distributed software systems - At least 10 years with enterprise server infrastructure, including Oracle and/or HPE platforms, and Linux/Windows installation, configuration, and upgrades - At least 10 years providing Level 2 or Level 3 technical support with formal incident and problem management - At least 15 years working with interoperability and data-exchange standards in defence or comparable operational C2 environments - At least 10 years of practical experience with Tactical Data Links, specifically Link 16, JREAP, and OTH-Gold - Proficiency with virtualisation (VMware ESXi), containerisation (Docker), scripting and automation, and application/system log analysis - Valid National or NATO Secret personal security clearance and nationality of a NATO member nation - Professional written and spoken English with willingness to travel

Nice to have - Experience supporting security accreditation activities and User Acceptance Testing - Demonstrated ability to deliver technical training, workshops, and briefings

Benefits and work setup - Primarily remote with recurrent on-site missions (approximately two per year, pro-rated for the 2026 base period) - Scheduled travel, accommodation, and related expenses covered under the contract; extraordinary travel reimbursed separately - Contract period: 16 November 2026 through 31 December 2026 - Single contractor position with potential travel to additional defence sites across Europe
