About this role
Role overview The Platform team owns the backend services that power a widely used text-to-speech product suite, spanning public APIs and internal systems such as payments, subscriptions, and analytics. This role focuses on designing, scaling, and maintaining those services while partnering closely with product and enterprise teams in a fast-moving, distributed engineering environment.
Responsibilities - Design, build, and maintain APIs including a public text-to-speech API and internal services covering payments, subscriptions, authentication, and usage tracking - Steward the entire backend API surface, continuously improving performance, reliability, and long-term maintainability - Partner on B2B solutions, tailoring integrations and customization for enterprise customer needs - Align backend architecture with broader product strategy and user experience through close cross-functional collaboration
Requirements - Demonstrated backend engineering experience with TypeScript and Node.js - Hands-on work with Google Cloud Platform and working familiarity with AWS, Azure, or comparable cloud providers - Ability to prioritize effectively, balancing urgency and impact during ideation and implementation - Strong communication skills and a work ethic suited to a flat, ownership-driven organization - Track record of building user experiences that delight customers
Nice to have - Experience with Docker and containerized deployments - Proficiency running high-availability applications on Kubernetes
