Role overview Join a fully distributed platform engineering team that builds and maintains the backend services powering a popular text-to-speech product used by tens of millions of people. The role spans the entire API landscape, from a public TTS API to internal services for payments, subscriptions, authentication, and analytics. Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain robust APIs including the public TTS API and internal services covering payments, subscription management, authentication, and consumption tracking, ensuring business and scalability requirements are met - Oversee the full backend API landscape, continuously improving performance, reliability, and maintainability - Collaborate on B2B initiatives, with a focus on customization and integration needs for enterprise clients - Work closely with cross-functional product and frontend teams to keep backend architecture aligned with overall product strategy and user experience
Requirements - Proven professional experience in backend development with TypeScript and Node.js - Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, plus working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or other major cloud providers - Ability to prioritize tasks effectively based on urgency and impact, with efficient implementation and a bias for delivery - Strong communication skills suited to remote, asynchronous collaboration
Nice to have - Experience with Docker and containerized deployment workflows - Proficiency deploying high-availability applications on Kubernetes
