This Busan-adjacent platform engineering role, based in Hsinchu, Taiwan, focuses on the backend systems behind a widely used text-to-speech application serving tens of millions of users across mobile, desktop, and browser platforms. The position involves designing scalable APIs for payments, subscriptions, analytics, and core speech services, then continuously optimizing them for performance. It is well suited to a strategic, product-minded engineer who enjoys fast iteration and influencing architectural direction in a flat, distributed team.
Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and maintain APIs including the public TTS endpoint and internal services for billing, subscriptions, authentication, and usage tracking - Own the health of the broader backend API ecosystem, refining it for scalability, resilience, and ease of maintenance - Support B2B partnerships by adapting backend services to fit enterprise integration and customization requirements - Collaborate across disciplines to ensure backend decisions reinforce product strategy and end-user experience - Contribute to architectural discussions that shape the platform's long-term direction
Requirements
- Solid track record of backend engineering work using TypeScript and Node.js - Direct experience operating production workloads on Google Cloud Platform, plus familiarity with AWS, Azure, or similar providers - Demonstrated ability to prioritize high-impact work and ship reliably under tight timelines - Excellent written communication suited to an asynchronous, remote-first culture

- Experience building and deploying containerized services with Docker - Comfort running highly available systems on Kubernetes
