Role overview A platform engineering role on a distributed team building the backend services that power a widely used text-to-speech product suite across mobile, desktop, browser, and web. The position centers on designing and scaling APIs that handle payments, subscriptions, authentication, analytics, and consumption tracking for tens of millions of users. Responsibilities - Design, build, and maintain public and internal APIs, including the text-to-speech API plus services for payments, subscriptions, authentication, and usage tracking - Continuously improve the backend API landscape for performance, reliability, and long-term maintainability - Partner on business-to-business integrations, tailoring solutions to enterprise customer needs - Align backend architecture with product strategy and user experience through close collaboration with cross-functional teams - Make rapid product and technical decisions, balancing speed with quality in a high-velocity environment
Requirements - Proven professional experience in backend development using TypeScript and Node.js - Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, with working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or other cloud providers - Ability to move efficiently from ideation to implementation, prioritizing work by urgency and impact - Strong communication skills and a track record of consistent, fast delivery
Nice to have - Experience with Docker and containerized deployment workflows - Proficiency running high-availability workloads on Kubernetes
