About this role
Role overview Join a fully distributed platform engineering team responsible for the backend services that underpin a widely used text-to-speech product serving tens of millions of users. The scope covers a public TTS API plus internal services for payments, analytics, authentication, subscriptions, and new product launches. It is well suited to a strategic, product-minded engineer who enjoys a flat, fast-moving environment and building infrastructure that delights end users.
Responsibilities - Design, build, and maintain scalable APIs including the public TTS API and internal services for payment, subscription, authentication, and consumption tracking - Own and continuously improve the full backend API landscape, focusing on performance, maintainability, and scalability - Partner on B2B solutions, addressing customization and integration requirements from enterprise customers - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure backend architecture supports overall product strategy and a high-quality user experience
Requirements - Demonstrated backend engineering experience with TypeScript and Node.js - Direct experience with Google Cloud Platform and working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or comparable cloud providers - Comfort prioritizing work by urgency and impact, with efficient ideation through to implementation - Strong communication skills and a strong work ethic in a remote-first setting
Nice to have - Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized deployment workflows - Proficiency running high-availability workloads on Kubernetes
