Based in Albuquerque, NM, this Platform Software Engineer role sits at the heart of a text-to-speech product serving tens of millions of users across web, mobile, and desktop. You will design backend services and APIs that power subscriptions, payments, authentication, and core text-to-speech functionality, with strong influence over product and technical direction. Responsibilities
- Design, ship, and maintain APIs including a public TTS API and internal services for payments, subscriptions, authentication, and usage metering - Drive continuous improvement across the full backend API surface area with a focus on performance and scalability - Contribute to B2B efforts, including enterprise integrations and tailored customer solutions - Partner with product and other engineering teams so backend decisions reinforce product strategy - Embrace a flat structure where leadership is earned through technical excellence and consistent delivery
Requirements
- Strong backend development background in TypeScript and Node.js - Direct experience with Google Cloud Platform, plus familiarity with AWS, Azure, or comparable providers - Ability to triage and execute quickly, weighing urgency against long-term impact - Clear communication skills and a strong work ethic
Nice to have
- Experience working with Docker and containerized deployment workflows - Comfort deploying and running highly available applications on Kubernetes
