Role overview This is a senior iOS engineering seat on the core product team behind a text-to-speech application used by tens of millions of readers to convert documents, articles, books, and web pages into audio. The role pairs hands-on Swift and SwiftUI development with meaningful product ownership, all inside a flat, fully distributed startup that prizes execution speed and customer obsession.
Responsibilities - Lead engineering and product decisions that shape the iOS experience - Ship production code regularly as part of a dedicated product team - Contribute to roadmap discussions and steer product direction - Maintain and evolve an established, complex iOS app architecture - Collaborate closely with designers and internal stakeholders to push the product forward
Requirements - A history of working on products that scaled to a sizable user base - Track record of taking products from inception through meaningful traction, with engineering ownership along the way - Customer-obsessed mindset with constant focus on delivering the best possible user experience - Strong product thinking, allowing thoughtful evolution of features and clear guidance for designers and partner teams - Bias toward speed: able to generate ideas quickly and decide what can ship now versus what needs more time - Self-direction in a busy, remote-first environment, knowing when to engage and when to go heads down
Technical expectations - Proficiency in Swift and SwiftUI - Experience with multithreaded programming - Familiarity with CI/CD infrastructure and tools like Fastlane - Practical application of SOLID design principles in everyday code - Comfort with Git and an understanding of different branching strategies
