About this role
Role overview Senior engineering opportunity to build and lead a Windows desktop application that turns written content into audio, helping millions of users read more efficiently. The position combines hands-on coding with architectural leadership inside a fully distributed engineering team. You will define technical direction for the Windows platform and own major features end to end.
Responsibilities - Lead the design and implementation of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++ where needed - Set and enforce best practices for code architecture, performance, memory usage, responsive UI, and compatibility across Windows 10 and 11 - Drive accessibility efforts by integrating Microsoft UI Automation and related frameworks, validating screen reader, keyboard navigation, and focus behavior - Partner with designers, UX researchers, and QA on feature planning, UI architecture, and platform roadmap - Take full lifecycle ownership of features from conception through release and ongoing maintenance - Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering glitches, and compatibility issues, proposing durable architectural fixes
Requirements - At least three years of Windows desktop development with Windows App SDK or WinUI, C#, and XAML, ideally plus native Windows experience in C++, Win32, WinRT, or COM - Strong grasp of Windows application architecture and .NET to native code interop - Proven track record of shipping production-quality desktop software with attention to reliability and performance - Hands-on experience with Windows accessibility APIs and a dedication to inclusive software - Solid engineering fundamentals including object-oriented design, patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, and async or multi-threaded programming - Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, conducting reviews, and making architectural calls - Strong communication and a user-first mindset
Nice to have - Experience writing automated UI tests such as unit, integration, and UI automation suites - Performance optimization for memory usage, startup time, rendering, high-DPI, and responsiveness - Localization, globalization, and right-to-left UI support - Familiarity with telemetry, crash reporting, logging, and error monitoring in desktop apps - Background in CI/CD pipelines and release workflows for desktop software
