About this role

Role overview A senior engineering position focused on building and continuously improving a native Windows desktop application used by a large, global user base. The role blends deep hands-on technical work with architectural leadership, prioritizing accessibility, performance, and quality across Windows 10/11. You will own features from initial concept through release and long-term maintenance.

Responsibilities - Drive the design, architecture, and implementation of native Windows desktop applications using the Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++ as required. - Set and enforce best practices for Windows desktop development, including code architecture, performance, memory usage, responsive UI, cross-version compatibility, and maintainability. - Champion accessibility by integrating Windows accessibility APIs, validating UI controls, focus management, keyboard navigation, and screen-reader behavior. - Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and other partners to shape the platform roadmap, feature planning, and UI/UX architecture. - Take ownership of the full feature lifecycle: conception, design, implementation, testing, release, and ongoing maintenance. - Investigate and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, and compatibility problems with sound architectural solutions.

Requirements - 3+ years building Windows desktop applications with Windows App SDK, WinUI (or comparable frameworks), C#, and XAML, plus experience with native Windows code (C++, Win32, WinRT, COM). - Strong grasp of Windows application architecture, including .NET-to-native interop. - History of shipping production-grade desktop applications emphasizing reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability. - Practical experience with Windows accessibility APIs (e.g., Microsoft UI Automation) and a commitment to inclusive software. - Solid software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, and asynchronous programming. - Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and making architecture-level decisions.

Nice to have - Writing and maintaining automated UI tests (unit, integration, UI automation). - Performance optimization for desktop apps, including startup, rendering, and high-DPI scenarios. - Localization, internationalization, and right-to-left UI work. - Telemetry, crash reporting, logging, and error monitoring experience. - Designing CI/CD workflows and release pipelines for desktop software.

Benefits and work setup - High-impact role shaping the architecture of a widely used Windows product. - Collaborative, flat engineering culture with significant autonomy and ownership. - Clear path to grow into broader technical leadership roles such as Tech Lead or Architect. - US-based salary range of 140,000-200,000 USD per year, plus bonus and stock, depending on experience.
