About this role
Role overview A senior engineering role responsible for building and evolving a native Windows desktop application that serves millions of users globally. The position combines deep technical work on Windows internals with architectural leadership, with strong emphasis on accessibility, performance, and product quality. It is a fully remote opportunity based in Bangkok.
Responsibilities - Lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications built with Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++ when needed. - Define and uphold best practices for Windows desktop engineering, spanning code architecture, performance, memory usage, responsive UI, cross-version compatibility (Windows 10/11+), and maintainability. - Drive accessibility initiatives, integrating Windows accessibility APIs and validating focus management, keyboard navigation, and screen-reader behavior. - Work closely with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and other stakeholders to shape feature planning, UI/UX architecture, and the long-term Windows roadmap. - Own features from initial concept through design, implementation, testing, release, and ongoing maintenance, ensuring consistent quality. - Diagnose and address complex defects, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, and compatibility problems, and propose durable fixes.
Requirements - 3+ years of Windows desktop application development using Windows App SDK, WinUI (or similar), C#, and XAML, ideally with native Windows code experience in C++, Win32, WinRT, or COM. - Deep understanding of Windows application architecture, including interop between managed .NET code and native code. - Proven track record of delivering production-quality desktop applications with attention to reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability. - Hands-on experience with Windows accessibility APIs such as Microsoft UI Automation, and dedication to inclusive design. - Strong computer science fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, and asynchronous programming. - Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, running code reviews, and making architecture-level decisions.
Nice to have - Experience building automated UI tests (unit, integration, UI automation). - Performance optimization for desktop apps, including startup time, rendering, and high-DPI support. - Localization, internationalization, and right-to-left UI work. - Familiarity with telemetry, crash reporting, logging, and error monitoring. - CI/CD and release pipeline design for desktop applications.
Benefits and work setup - High-impact role defining the architecture of a widely used Windows product. - Distributed, flat engineering culture with strong autonomy and ownership. - Opportunities to mentor and grow into broader technical leadership tracks. - Fully remote work setup based in Bangkok, Thailand.
