Role overview
A fast-growing text-to-speech platform that converts articles, documents, and books into audio for listening and learning is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its Core Experiences team, based in Hong Kong. The team owns the cross-platform SDKs and foundational services that power the product experience, sitting at the intersection of product engineering, infrastructure, and API design. It is a strategic role for an engineer who values simple systems and wants their work to influence how the product feels across platforms.
Responsibilities
- Partner with product teams to scope initiatives, trim scope where helpful, and navigate tradeoffs between integration effort and user experience. - Drive faster customer feedback by narrowing project scope and shipping in shorter iteration cycles. - Build cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and background jobs in Kotlin. - Improve loading speed and parsing intelligence through tighter abstractions and smarter algorithms. - Deliver shared capabilities through a cross-platform SDK consumed across multiple product surfaces.
Requirements
- Systems-thinking mindset with a strong commitment to simplicity across the full stack. - Ability to move quickly, weigh tradeoffs, and decide what can ship now versus what needs more time. - Comfort operating heads-down in a busy, remote-first startup environment. - Strong collaboration skills when partnering with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers. - Hands-on experience with Kotlin Multiplatform (Java experience is acceptable but Kotlin is the core stack).

- Prior experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
