Role overview Join the Core Experiences Team as a Senior Software Engineer building and maintaining the foundational services and SDKs behind a widely used text-to-speech product. The role combines product and infrastructure thinking, with responsibility for designing reliable APIs and simple systems that improve how millions of users consume written content across platforms. Based in College Station, Texas, the position fits an engineer who thrives on moving between strategic decisions and direct technical contribution in a high-velocity environment.
Responsibilities
- Work with product teams to scope projects, trim scope to accelerate feedback, and navigate integration and UX trade-offs - Deliver features through a cross-platform SDK that powers the core reading and listening flow - Improve existing functionality for faster loading and smarter parsing via better abstractions and algorithms - Build and maintain cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and background jobs in Kotlin - Shape the technical foundation that other product teams depend on
Requirements
- Strong systems thinking grounded in end-to-end design and a preference for simplicity - Speed of execution: ability to generate options quickly and judge what can ship now versus later - Self-direction in a fast-paced, remote-first team, with good judgment on when to engage and when to focus - Strong collaboration skills, especially with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers - Production experience with Kotlin Multiplatform (Java background acceptable)

- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
