About this role
Role overview
This is a Senior Software Engineer opening on the Core Experiences team, which builds the foundational services and SDKs behind a major audio-information consumer product. The role is based in the Casablanca, Morocco area and lives at the crossroads of product and infrastructure, requiring a strategic mindset and a passion for designing clear APIs and simple systems that have a tangible impact on user experience. It is a remote-friendly position within a fast-paced, high-growth engineering organization.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product teams to scope projects, identify ways to trim scope for faster customer feedback, and weigh integration complexity against user experience when delivering through the cross-platform SDK - Optimize existing functionality by introducing better abstractions and improving algorithms to ship faster loading and smarter parsing - Develop, deploy, and maintain cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and asynchronous jobs in Kotlin - Design platform-level APIs with an emphasis on clarity, reliability, and simplicity for downstream consumers - Contribute to architectural decisions that influence how scalable, performant, and maintainable the core platform remains
Requirements
- Systems-thinking ability, with the perspective that great optimization requires end-to-end design and that simplicity is genuinely valuable - A speed-oriented approach: capable of generating options quickly and making clear calls about what to ship now versus what needs more incubation - Self-management skills suited to a busy, remote-first team, with sound judgment about when to engage and when to focus deeply - Strong collaboration skills, including the ability to negotiate and align with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers - Production experience with Kotlin Multiplatform; Java experience is acceptable but Kotlin Multiplatform is the primary technology
Nice to have
- Previous experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Benefits and work setup
- Competitive compensation and a friendly, laid-back team atmosphere - Remote-first, asynchronous culture designed for deep focus and minimal unnecessary meetings - Entrepreneurial environment that supports initiative, intuition, and a healthy appetite for risk - Hands-off management style that gives engineers space to do their best work - A chance to contribute to a widely used product that helps millions of users, including people with learning differences such as dyslexia, ADHD, low vision, and autism - Work at the intersection of AI and audio, one of the most dynamic areas in technology today
