Role overview A small, high-autonomy team is hiring a mid-level back-end software engineer to help build and maintain a mix of internal tools and well-known open-source security projects. The work supports authorized offensive-security operations such as penetration testing and red team engagements, and prior security experience is not required. Day-to-day scope spans web applications, REST and GraphQL APIs, command-line tools, containerized services, and infrastructure automation. The position is remote within the United States, with optional quarterly in-person gatherings.

Requirements - 4+ years of professional software design and application development experience. - Track record building extensible APIs and maintainable services. - Hands-on experience with a back-end language such as Go or Python. - Familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL. - Comfort with Git and modern collaborative development workflows. - Experience developing or supporting containerized applications with Docker or comparable tooling. - Ability to work independently, make sound technical calls, and own work to completion. - Strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and task prioritization. - Must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
Nice to have - Experience with Django, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, Docker Compose, Ansible, or Terraform. - Command-line application or tooling experience. - Prior contributions to or maintenance of open-source software. - Familiarity with cybersecurity, penetration testing, or red team operations. - Comfort with Jira and Agile sprint planning.
Benefits and work setup - Base salary range of $125,000 to $150,000 annually, depending on experience. - Health, dental, vision, and life insurance fully covered for employee and family. - Flexible time off policy plus 13 paid holidays annually. - 401(k) with up to a 4% company match, stock options, and quarterly bonuses. - $1,500 new-hire home office allowance, $500 annual home office allowance after the first year, and $150 monthly phone and internet reimbursement. - $5,000 annual professional development budget, $5,250 toward continuing education or student loan repayment, and a $1,200 annual wellness, lifestyle, and pet budget. - One-time $10,000 family planning benefit and regular in-person and virtual team events. - Fully remote within the U.S.
