Horizon: Full-Stack Engineer (Senior)

Role overview Senior full-stack engineer joining a small team building a next-generation data management and AI platform for maritime domain awareness. The work spans both historical and real-time data pipelines feeding into an application used by defense customers, with a flat team structure where engineers contribute across the stack.

Responsibilities - Build application components and pages that surface maritime data to operators. - Implement historical and real-time data feeds using WebGPU rendering. - Design and evolve data models in PostgreSQL and Apache Iceberg. - Maintain and extend real-time data pipelines using MQTT and Redpanda. - Maintain and extend offline batch pipelines using Dagster for scheduled processing. - Integrate machine learning models and supporting algorithms into the application surface. - Strengthen local development tooling and CI/CD using modern tooling and GitHub Actions.

Requirements - Deep expertise in TypeScript and CSS, including utility-first frameworks such as TailwindCSS. - Production experience with React and a framework such as Next.js, plus state management such as React Context. - Backend experience with Node.js, GraphQL, and REST APIs. - Working proficiency in SQL/PostgreSQL, Python, Docker, and Kubernetes. - Demonstrated care for code quality: linting, formatting, full typing, and high test coverage. - Strong instincts for performance, deep debugging, and explaining complex technical ideas to peers.

Nice to have - Experience with IoT devices and physical sensors. - Background in digital signal processing. - Geospatial analysis or GIS experience. - Familiarity working in monorepos.
