Role overview This position supports a government-focused container platform built on Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes, with infrastructure hosted in AWS. The engineer operates, automates, and modernizes the platform, working alongside application teams and DevSecOps practitioners to keep containerized services reliable, observable, and secure. The work blends platform administration, infrastructure automation, and incident response within Agile delivery teams.
Responsibilities - Install, maintain, and operationalize the OpenShift platform, including the deployment and management of OpenShift Operators. - Build and refine automation that improves platform reliability, scalability, and efficiency across container and cloud environments. - Monitor and troubleshoot issues spanning OpenShift, Kubernetes, AWS services, and supporting infrastructure components. - Operate and improve platform services for logging, monitoring, observability, and service mesh. - Partner with application developers to enable smooth containerized application deployment and ongoing operations. - Contribute to DevSecOps initiatives, CI/CD pipeline enhancements, and broader infrastructure modernization efforts. - Develop scripts and tooling in Shell, Python, and Java to automate platform tasks. - Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities within Agile teams.
Requirements - Five or more years of experience in enterprise infrastructure, cloud, containerization, or platform engineering. - Hands-on experience with OpenShift, Kubernetes, and container technologies such as Docker. - Practical experience with AWS cloud services. - Proficiency writing automation using Bash/Shell, Python, or Java. - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices in production environments. - Linux administration skills and proven troubleshooting ability in production settings. - Experience working within Agile delivery teams. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline. - Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance, with U.S. residency for three of the past five years.
Nice to have - Background supporting federal agencies, healthcare systems, or CMS environments. - Production Red Hat OpenShift administration experience, ideally with the EX280 certification or an equivalent credential. - Familiarity with observability stacks, service mesh tooling, and event-driven architectures such as Kafka. - Exposure to Site Reliability Engineering practices and infrastructure-as-code approaches.
