About this role
Role overview This DevOps Engineer role supports the modernization of a large, business-critical operational platform, helping a small senior team transition legacy application logic, database-level rules, and partly manual processes toward a modern, cloud-native architecture on Azure. The position combines routine platform administration, CI/CD pipeline work, and incident troubleshooting, with peer review and architectural support from senior engineers. It is a hands-on role focused on keeping production and non-production environments reliable, secure, and maintainable.
Responsibilities - Maintain Azure infrastructure with Terraform, including reusable modules, environment configuration, remote state, and reviewed deployment plans, while investigating configuration drift and bringing resources under version control. - Develop and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions, including automated checks, artifacts, approvals, build agents, and service connections. - Support cloud data platforms such as Azure Databricks, managing workspace settings, compute resources, permissions, storage access, and deployment configuration. - Deploy and maintain Azure Functions and support Azure Event Hubs configuration, access, capacity, and monitoring. - Troubleshoot common networking and access issues involving DNS, private endpoints, Entra ID, RBAC, and Key Vault. - Maintain monitoring and alerts, investigate incidents using logs and metrics, and escalate complex issues with clear findings. - Support production releases and recovery testing, following change procedures, validating services after deployment, and keeping rollback instructions current. - Write operational scripts and runbooks, automate recurring tasks, and identify opportunities to right-size, schedule, and clean up cloud resources.
Requirements - Around 3 years of experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or a similar role, with practical exposure to production environments. - Hands-on Azure knowledge covering compute, storage, networking, identity, and security fundamentals, including least-privilege access and secret management. - Practical Terraform experience with modules, variables, remote state, and safe plan and apply workflows for existing infrastructure. - Experience with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, confidence using Git and pull requests, and willingness to work across both CI/CD platforms. - Some experience administering cloud data platforms, preferably Azure Databricks, with an understanding of compute management, permissions, and data access. - Familiarity with serverless operations on Azure Functions and Azure Event Hubs concepts such as partitions, consumer groups, and retention. - Ability to automate tasks in Python, PowerShell, or Bash, and to troubleshoot using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics. - Strong written and spoken English, a careful approach to production changes, and the judgement to escalate when appropriate.
Nice to have - Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Databricks Unity Catalog, or Asset Bundles. - Familiarity with AI/ML platform components and supporting machine learning workloads in production.
Benefits and work setup - Access to training and certification programs through partnerships with major cloud and AI platform providers. - Team-building events and an integration budget for new hires. - Celebrations for work anniversaries, birthdays, and team milestones. - Medical and sports packages, eye care, and well-being support including psychotherapy and coaching. - Full work equipment provided, including a laptop and necessary devices. - Support to build a personal brand through conference speaking, blog writing, or meetup participation. - Structured onboarding with a dedicated buddy in a friendly, supportive, and autonomous team culture.
