182. Senior Data Engineer (Contractor)

Role overview A contract opportunity is open for a Senior Data Engineer to support a healthcare technology project focused on medical imaging data. The core mission involves building pipelines that strip personally identifiable information (PII) from X-rays and other clinical photographs before the data is used downstream. The work centers on Python-based image processing and the careful handling of protected health information (PHI) within a regulated environment.

Responsibilities - Design and maintain data pipelines that process medical images and strip identifying details such as patient name, date of birth, and image metadata. - Apply de-identification techniques to PHI datasets to support compliant downstream use. - Build and version data models and schemas as code, ensuring reproducibility across environments. - Manage storage layers including blob storage and relational databases alongside NoSQL systems. - Operate within an AWS-based cloud architecture, handling schema changes and pipeline reliability.

Requirements - At least 5 years of professional experience as a Data Engineer. - Hands-on experience managing PHI datasets and performing de-identification workflows. - Expert-level proficiency in Python, including image processing libraries. - Practical experience with relational databases and blob storage management. - Working knowledge of NoSQL data stores and AWS services. - Familiarity with de-identification tooling (Deid) and data-model-as-code practices. - English proficiency at B2 level or higher.
