About this role
Role overview A contract opportunity is open for a Senior Cinematic Facial Animator on an 8-month engagement supporting a AAA game production. The role focuses on crafting in-game cinematic facial performances using FACS-based rigs, integrating facial capture data, and polishing animations through to final engine implementation.
Responsibilities - Build high-quality cinematic facial animation using motion capture data and hand-key techniques on FACS-based rigs. - Partner with Animation Directors and Lead Animators to shape facial performances that reflect the project's cinematic vision. - Help maintain performance benchmarks and coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth engine integration. - Troubleshoot technical issues that arise when facial animation is integrated into the game engine. - Refine character performances to deliver lifelike, engaging facial scenes. - Participate in feedback sessions, present work in progress, and incorporate critique. - Track progress and manage workload using tools such as Jira and Flow, communicating status and roadblocks to leads and project management.
Requirements - Senior-level experience producing cinematic facial animation for games or comparable productions. - Advanced proficiency in Maya and familiarity with Microsoft Office. - Strong understanding of animation and camera principles for realistic cinematic work. - Working knowledge of state machine flow within a game engine. - Ability to estimate work, manage schedules, and mentor junior artists. - Authorization to work in the United States.
Nice to have - Experience with proprietary internal animation tools, MotionBuilder, or Adobe Premiere.
