C++ Engineer (f/m/d)

Role overview A senior C++ engineering position focused on performance architecture for a high-throughput ad serving platform that decides which advertisement to show to millions of users within fractions of a second. The work blends deep systems programming with architectural ownership, with the explicit goal of chasing microseconds on the critical request path. The role is remote-first by default, with in-person collaboration sessions held in Berlin for major design and architecture discussions.

Responsibilities - Optimize the hot path of the ad serving engine, hunting down microseconds and keeping response times stable under peak traffic - Evolve the distributed platform architecture to support international scaling, navigating real-world consistency and availability decisions - Design how NoSQL data stores are used to retrieve complex targeting data without exceeding the latency budget - Define C++ coding standards and best practices that keep the codebase maintainable while squeezing the most out of the hardware - Profile, benchmark, and reason about memory layout, allocation strategies, and cache behavior in production code

Requirements - Strong command of modern C++ with a solid grasp of memory layout, cache behavior, and how the compiler reasons about code - Deep Linux proficiency, with tools such as perf, gdb, valgrind, and strace as part of the daily workflow - Experience designing systems that run across many servers and a practical understanding of distributed-systems trade-offs - Comfort owning work end-to-end rather than waiting for detailed instructions - Evidence of shipped, production-ready work, ideally demonstrated through a portfolio, side project, or public demo repository

Nice to have - Background in low-latency, high-throughput systems where microseconds directly affect outcomes - Practical experience applying the CAP theorem in live deployments rather than textbook scenarios
