Job details
About this role
Role overview This is a senior technical product management role embedded with the U.S. Air Force on a multi-year legacy modernization program. The work spans modernizing legacy systems, building new capabilities inside a multi-vendor environment, and iterating on established platforms — all within an ongoing agile transformation and broader organizational change. The PM owns product direction for an effort where architecture, integrations, and the vendor landscape directly shape what is possible, and is expected to make technical tradeoffs legible to non-technical stakeholders while pairing closely with government partners.
Responsibilities - Lead a cross-functional team of researchers, designers, engineers, and subject matter experts to deliver high-impact products and services. - Translate user and government partner needs into a product strategy: vision, objectives, success measures, roadmap, and backlog. - Manage the scope and priorities of the modernization effort, weighing architecture, integration, and migration tradeoffs alongside user outcomes. - Write and prioritize user stories, and build release plans across iterations. - Work in close partnership with government teams to transfer digital and product knowledge throughout the engagement. - Navigate bureaucratic constraints creatively and use AI-assisted ways of working across the team.
Requirements - Working knowledge of lean product principles and how to apply them at different stages of the product life cycle. - Ability to develop a product strategy that prioritizes outcomes over feature lists, including success criteria and a roadmap. - Track record of executing strategy via a maintained, prioritized backlog with validated user stories and well-run team ceremonies. - Familiarity with human-centered design and how it informs product direction. - Comfort managing clients and stakeholders to build trust, alignment, and healthy team environments. - Practical understanding of agile and lean methodologies and enough technical fluency to weigh architecture and engineering tradeoffs with engineers and explain them to non-technical audiences. - Interest in mentoring and pairing with government partners; ability to operate in environments with limited or variable user access.
Nice to have - Experience with government modernization, multi-vendor delivery, or AI-assisted product workflows.
Benefits and work setup - Full-time, exempt, fully remote role with occasional travel to Air Force bases across the U.S. (quarterly at most). - Expected start: November 2026. - Senior salary range: $150,000–$185,000; Staff: $170,000–$203,000; Principal: $180,000–$230,000. - Medical, dental, and vision insurance; short- and long-term disability; life and AD&D. - Dependent care FSA, healthcare FSA, and HSA. - Dollar-for-dollar 401(k) match up to 10% of salary with no vesting period. - ~25 days PTO plus 11 federal holidays; up to 12 weeks paid leave for new birth, adoption, or foster parents. - Annual performance bonus, spot bonuses, stock options, and referral incentives. - $2,000 annual professional development allowance and $750 annual tech allowance. - Flexible, remote-friendly culture.
