Job details
About this role
Role overview Own the services and data flows that support provider, benefit, and pricing information across member experiences, partner integrations, and internal operations. This staff-level role combines full-stack product development with leadership in data engineering, architecture, and production reliability, including the pipelines that move data into and out of a warehouse.
Responsibilities - Build and operate APIs, data pipelines, and partner integrations that handle large provider, benefit, and pricing datasets. - Make integrations reliable and observable, accounting for inconsistent inputs, schema changes, retries, and malformed data. - Create internal applications that turn repetitive operational tasks, such as benefit pricing updates, into self-service workflows with audit trails. - Set technical direction for service architecture and data integration patterns; guide design decisions and unblock engineers across teams. - Improve production reliability through testing, monitoring, alerting, safe releases, on-call response, and fixes informed by root-cause analysis. - Work with product, operations, and pricing partners to turn loosely defined needs into durable technical solutions; mentor engineers through reviews and hands-on collaboration.
Requirements - 10+ years of software engineering experience, including ownership of data-intensive systems in production. - Strong experience building and operating data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and delivery; warehouse experience is preferred. - Practical experience maintaining third-party integrations and handling unreliable or inconsistent external data. - Experience building internal tools that automate operational workflows for non-engineering teams. - Strong grounding in distributed systems, data modeling, and architecture for data processing at scale. - Ability to lead technically, communicate tradeoffs to technical and non-technical audiences, and shape solutions amid ambiguity. - Uses AI-assisted development tools with care, verifying the security, correctness, and quality of work before release. - Must be based in California, Oregon, or Washington; visa sponsorship and transfers are not available.
Nice to have - Experience with healthcare data such as provider directories, claims, fee schedules, or benefits information. - Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, dbt, or Step Functions.
